FROM THE COMMUNITY

I didn’t expect the life-changing impact it had on me. Starting the day with meditation and then practicing twice-daily yoga infused with Pete’s insights, heartfelt sharing of personal struggles and inspirational poems touched my core and opened me up to new ways of thinking.

So, it was much more than a fun break from my routine – it was life-changing. THANK YOU.

Great campground, awesome excursions & wonderful humans! I’ll be back next year!

They were appropriately challenging, and also included bits wisdom and intuition from Pete, as well a good mix of light heartedness and humor. It was just the right balance for a retreat like this. In addition, Pete acted as gracious and welcoming host, making sure the participants had opportunities to get acquainted with each, laugh and connect.

Retreats FAQ

  • Yoga at a Pete Retreat is considered "all levels." To give you a sense of what that means: we have people who come on the retreat who are brand-new to yoga, and people who come on the retreat who are expert practitioners / certified yoga teachers, and every other level in between. Often, we have yoga assistants that support the students individual needs in the poses. We tend not to explore very many "advanced" poses on the outdoor retreats as we are outside and on the ground and it makes it harder to have support for some of the more "advanced" poses. If you are brand new, or would like additional help, please let us know so that we can coordinate some extra help (beginners/skills workshops) for you during the retreat.

  • Hiking

    Meditation

    Vision Boarding

  • A chef and chef assistant prepare all of the meals for the retreat. Meals are healthy and nutritious. Typically our chefs prepare vegetarian meals. Chicken and fish are served at the discretion of the chef. If you are vegetarian (or have other dietary restrictions) we have options for you. Please indicate on the registration form your dietary preference(s).

  • It depends on the retreat

Outdoor Yoga Retreats: We will be camping. We are staying in 2-3 group campsites that are very large. You can put your tent (small or large) close to your car or walk as far back 200-300 feet to be amongst the shrubs, rocks, and trees. You can pull right up and unload your car.

Indoor Yoga Retreats: We typically offer Single, Double, Triple, and Quad Rooms. Please check the registration form to find out what lodging fits best for your needs.

  • Students who attend Pete’s retreats are known to be kind, welcoming, fun-loving, grounded, introverted, adventurous, empathetic, silly, heartfelt, many things in between, and… your future friends. Pete’s student community has members ranging from early twenties to beyond sixties, with the average age being thirty to fifty years old. Retreats are often roughly 60% female and 40% male, or 50/50 balanced. Students come from a range of geographies: California, New York, Oregon, Texas, England, Australia, Thailand and beyond!

  • You bet! A-lot of our campers come solo and meet new friends instantly. You definitely won’t feel like the odd-person-out.

  • Yes, carpooling will be coordinated! We help to coordinate carpooling and will send out an email soon after you register to help you make carpool arrangements with other retreatants.

  • For most retreats we do offer a prorated retreat cost if you can’t attend the whole retreat. This option is available only if the retreat is not sold out. Please email Pete and his team at retreats@petegyoga.com to ask about availability.

  • Yes! For most retreats, work-trade positions are available. and help with the chef. The work trade typically gets more than 50% off the retreat.

  • Your unique one, because we want you to be authentically you! It doesn’t hurt to be open-minded, kind, and accepting. Students have the best time on Pete’s retreats when they allow the experience that’s meant to be, to emerge. Don’t be afraid to bring your shadow along too—lots of deep emotional work can happen on a Pete retreat if you want it to. You’ll have a supportive community around you for whatever experience you’re meant to have.

  • On a Pete retreat, we set our phones and digital devices away as much as possible. This allows us to drop in and experience the incredible beauty of our surroundings, and to feel the teachings of yoga begin to shift our hearts. We often dance to fun music, take pictures and have phones available to navigate in our vehicles—but limiting screen time is encouraged during the majority of the retreat, in order for you to have the best experience. And note that in certain locations, such as Lassen and Joshua Tree National Parks, cell phone service is not available at the campsite and requires a short drive to get signal.
